Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our laboratory team. The successful candidate will undertake routine and complex investigations and tissue analysis using specialised laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with all relevant professional and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
*Carry out unsupervised routine and advanced investigations and tissue analysis.
*Operate specialised laboratory equipment in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
*Ensure compliance with the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) codes of practice, ISO 15189:2012, and UKAS accreditation standards.
*Follow HCA Laboratories’ policies and procedures to maintain efficient laboratory service delivery.
*Perform timely and accurate sample processing, including:
*Quality control of slides prior to dispatch
*Frozen section techniques
*Biopsy transfer
*Embedding
*Microtomy (approximately 30 samples per hour)
*Special staining techniques

Requirements:
*Degree in Biomedical Sciences or a related discipline.
*HCPC accredited
*Full right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available).
*Ability to commute to Huntingdon (PE29).
*Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques (histology) and compliance standards.
