Job Description:
A warm, welcoming, and well-established family in Surrey are seeking an experienced and highly organised Live-In Housekeeper to take charge of the daily running and long-term care of their beautiful 6-bedroom home. This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys creating a calm, comfortable, and exceptionally well-maintained environment. The ideal candidate will be friendly, approachable, and easy to have around the household, with excellent attention to detail and a proactive mindset. Strong English communication skills, a flexible attitude, and pride in delivering consistently high standards are essential.
The successful candidate will oversee the full spectrum of housekeeping duties, keeping the home immaculate and well-organised at all times. This includes maintaining all living spaces, managing the family’s laundry and wardrobe care, and ensuring cupboards, pantries, and storage areas remain tidy and systematically arranged. A confident and capable cook is required, someone able to prepare simple, wholesome meals such as roast chicken, soups, salads, and other family-style dishes, along with helping with light hosting when the family entertains.
The family have two friendly dogs, so a genuine love of animals is important. The Housekeeper will be responsible for daily dog care, including walking, feeding, and providing companionship, ensuring their wellbeing and routine are maintained whether the family are home or travelling.
As the family travel frequently, often 12+ weeks per year, the Housekeeper must be trustworthy, self-reliant, and able to keep the household running smoothly in their absence. This includes managing supplies, overseeing food stock, staying on top of household organisation, and ensuring the property remains secure, clean, and welcoming at all times. Someone who takes ownership of their role and anticipates needs without being asked will thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
*Full housekeeping: cleaning, tidying, and maintaining all areas of the home to an exceptional standard
*Organising cupboards, wardrobes, and storage spaces with care and efficiency
*Laundry and ironing for the family, including proper care of delicate items
*Preparing simple, nutritious meals and supporting occasional entertaining
*Dog care: regular walks, feeding, and ensuring the dogs feel loved and cared for
*Managing household supplies, inventories, and running local errands
*Keeping the home secure, warm, and welcoming, especially during periods when the family are away
A driver is essential for this role. A car will be provided for work-related duties.
Start date: January 2026
Accommodation: Private, self-contained 2-bedroom annex with a separate entrance. A small dog may be considered.
Working week: Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend requirements
Hours: 7:30am–1:00pm and 2:30pm–6:00pm
Salary: £40,000 gross per annum
