Reed Education is working in partnership with a forward-thinking secondary school to recruit a Qualified Teacher of the Deaf. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team dedicated to ensuring every child has access to a broad, balanced, and inclusive curriculum.
The Role
As a Teacher of the Deaf, you will:
*Deliver specialist teaching and targeted interventions for deaf and hearing-impaired students.
*Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, SENCO, and external agencies to ensure full curriculum access.
*Promote inclusion, independence, and wellbeing for all pupils.
*Provide staff training and guidance on deaf awareness and communication strategies.
*Manage and maintain audiology equipment (e.g., hearing aids, FM systems).
*Contribute to EHCP reviews and liaise with families and professionals.
What We’re Looking For
*Qualified Teacher of the Deaf and QTS.
*Knowledge of British Sign Language (minimum Level 1).
*Strong understanding of SEN legislation and inclusive teaching practices.
*Ability to teach a specialist subject at KS3 and KS4.
*Excellent communication and organisational skills.
*Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
