Associate Ecologist / Associate Director (BNG Specialist)
Role Overview
As an Associate Ecologist / Associate Director, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality ecological solutions for development and nature recovery projects. This position combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, offering the opportunity to shape biodiversity strategies and mentor the next generation of ecologists.
Key Responsibilities
*Work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
*Undertake ecological assessments and habitat design for diverse projects.
*Develop innovative and pragmatic approaches to ecological mitigation and compensation.
*Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and engage effectively with stakeholders and clients.
*Deliver clear, concise, and high-quality ecological reports aligned with current guidance and best practice.
*Provide quality assurance for ecological deliverables.
*Act as ecology lead on projects, ensuring successful outcomes.
*Manage tasks and projects from inception to completion.
*Mentor and support team members, including line management responsibilities.
About You
*Passionate about ecology and committed to driving positive environmental outcomes.
*Strong knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) legislation, policy, and methodologies.
*Ability to undertake BNG assessments, including feasibility, baseline, and post-works evaluations.
*Excellent report writing skills, ideally with experience in Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans (HMMPs).
*Advanced botanical skills, preferably at FISC Level 4 or equivalent.
*Proficient in GIS and other geospatial applications.
*Experience in protected species surveys, mitigation, and licensing.
*Understanding of work-winning strategies, including bidding and client relationship management.
*Proven ability to manage ecology deliverables and projects from bid to completion.
*Professional membership of CIEEM (or equivalent) and ability to achieve Chartership (CEnv or CEcol).
*Full UK driving licence.
