About the Role
Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Tutor to support students in St Helens. As an SEN Tutor, you will provide one-to-one tuition to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), and other complex learning needs. If you have the experience and passion to work with students who require personalised support to thrive academically, this role is the perfect opportunity to make a meaningful difference in their learning journey.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver one-to-one tutoring sessions in core subjects (Maths, English, Science, etc.) tailored to the individual learning needs of students with SEN.

Adapt lessons, teaching methods, and resources to suit each student’s unique learning style and pace.

Build a strong, positive rapport with students to create a safe, supportive, and motivating learning environment.

Support students in developing essential academic skills, such as subject knowledge, study skills, and exam confidence.

Monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to parents, carers, or professionals involved in the student’s education.

Develop personalised learning plans that address both academic and emotional needs, helping students to build confidence and independence.

Essential Requirements

At least 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring students with SEN in a one-to-one or small group setting.

Experience working with students with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other learning challenges.

Right to work in the UK.

Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Ability to work independently and manage a flexible tutoring schedule.

Desirable Qualifications

QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or relevant teaching qualifications.

Experience supporting students at GCSE or Key Stage 3 level.

Knowledge of strategies to support emotional and behavioural challenges in students with SEN.

Additional Information

Sessions are typically held during school hours, with some flexibility for after-school or evening sessions depending on student availability.
