Job Description:
Reed Secure are working with the British Transport Police on a number of PIP1 Police Staff Investigators, we are looking for motivated and detail-oriented Police Staff Investigators (PIP Level 1) to join our team and play a vital role in investigating volume and priority crime. You will gather and examine evidence, conduct interviews, and manage case files to help bring offenders to justice, ensuring victims remain at the centre of all decisions and actions.
The roles have start dates as soon as possible and will run until the end of March 2026 with potential to be extended. The positions are based on site at various locations including Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Exeter, and various London locations (Stratford, Stockwell, Baker Street, Kings Cross/St Pancras, Euston, London Bridge, Waterloo, Victoria, Paddington, Liverpool Street. We are able to offer an hourly rate of £27.18 via an Umbrella company or PAYE options are also available.
Already having NPPV or CTC vetting is desirable but if you do not have active clearance this will be processed for you.
Key Responsibilities
*Evidence Collection: Gather material, intelligence, and evidence from multiple sources (victims, witnesses, suspects, open source, digital media) and ensure evidential integrity.
*Interviewing: Conduct interviews with witnesses and suspects using appropriate techniques within the criminal law framework.
*CCTV Review & Suspect Identification: Review CCTV footage, perform facial recognition comparisons, and prepare officer briefings.
*Intelligence Collation: Link offences and prepare intelligence packages to assist arrests, particularly in retail theft and business robbery cases.
*Victim Care: Complete risk and needs assessments, formulate victim plans, and provide support throughout the investigation.
*Case File Preparation: Build case files, prepare investigative outcome reports, and manage disclosure in compliance with best practice procedures.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
*Must hold PIP Level 1 accreditation.
*Demonstrable experience in complex information gathering and problem-solving.
*Strong understanding of the criminal justice system and investigative processes.
*Excellent communication and analytical skills.
*Competence in IT systems for case management and intelligence handling.
