Finance Officer
*Annual Salary: £30,000
*Location: New Romney
*Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
We are seeking a dedicated Finance Officer to support our clients financial operations in New Romney. This role involves handling day-to-day financial tasks such as data entry, invoice processing, and bank reconciliations under the supervision of the Finance Manager. The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial records are maintained and assist in producing financial reports.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Data Entry and Management: Accurately input financial transactions into accounting systems and maintain financial databases.
*Sales Ledger: Manage daily invoices, raise ad-hoc sales invoices, send out statements, record receipts, oversee credit control, and handle customer queries.
*Purchase Ledger: Process purchase invoices, manage suppliers’ statements, handle employee expenses, prepare payment runs, and record payments.
*Petty Cash Management: Oversee and reconcile petty cash.
*Reconciliation: Perform bank account, petty cash, and other financial account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
*Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, monthly reports, and budgets.
*Compliance: Ensure all financial activities comply with company policies and regulations.
*Administrative Support: Provide general support to the finance team and assist with tasks such as online orders, ordering with trade suppliers, preparing audit files, and backing up the Finance Manager in payroll.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proactive attitude with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
*Minimum of 3 years’ experience with Xero, as the business is transitioning from Sage to Xero.
*Basic knowledge of Sage Line 50.
*Proficient in managing Sales Ledger, Credit Control, Purchase Ledger, Petty Cash, and Reconciliation.
*Excellent communication skills and good awareness.
*Supportive of improvements in internal control, processes, and systems.
*Basic proficiency in Excel.
*Ability to work effectively in an open plan office environment and in a very small team.
*Driving licence and car recommended due to the location of the workplace.
