Financial Accountant - Technical & Project-Focused | Rail / Construction Background Preferred
Robert Half is working with a established organisation is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its Financial Control team. This role is ideal for a technically strong accountant who enjoys a blend of financial reporting, controls, systems improvement and project-focused work, particularly within a dynamic, contract-driven environment.
About the Role
As a key part of the Financial Control team, you will play a central role in ensuring accuracy, compliance and continuous improvement across the function. Your responsibilities will include:
* Managing and reconciling the fixed asset register

* Ownership of IFRS16 lease accounting

* Preparing statutory accounts and managing change control

* Delivering high-quality, timely balance sheet reconciliations

* Supporting both internal and external audits

* Providing expert guidance on accounting standards, company law and HMRC requirements

* Strengthening internal controls and collaborating with wider finance teams to mitigate risk

* Supporting tax computations and broader tax compliance

* Driving systems and process improvements across finance

* Ad hoc project support as directed by the Financial Controller

This position offers a balance of BAU and project responsibilities, with ample opportunity to influence processes and enhance reporting quality.
About You
We’re seeking a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) with a strong grounding in technical accounting and financial control. You will stand out if you bring:
* Experience within the railway, construction or infrastructure sectors

* Exposure to working with subcontractors, complex contracts or project-based environments

* A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for improving processes

* Strong communication skills and the ability to work across multiple stakeholders

* Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality reporting
