Job Title: Outreach Tutor Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Wigan
Location: Wigan (community-based or in-home sessions)
Pay Rate: £30 per hour

About the Role
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and qualified tutor with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to join our Outreach Tutor program in Wigan. In this role, you will provide one-to-one tuition to students in their homes or local community settings, offering tailored support in core subjects such as Maths, English, and Science. If you’re passionate about delivering personalised education and want the flexibility of working independently, this is an excellent opportunity to make a significant difference in students’ academic journeys.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver one-to-one tutoring sessions in core subjects (Maths, English, Science, etc.), personalised to meet the needs and learning styles of each student.
Develop engaging lesson plans and adjust teaching methods to ensure that content is accessible and challenging for each student.
Build positive, supportive relationships with students to foster a safe and motivating learning environment.
Track and monitor student progress, providing regular updates and feedback to parents, carers, or other involved professionals.
Create and implement personalised learning plans to help students reach their academic goals, addressing any barriers to learning.
Communicate regularly with families to ensure a collaborative and transparent approach to student learning.
Essential Requirements
Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
At least 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring in a one-to-one or small group setting.
Right to work in the UK.
Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience teaching or tutoring students at GCSE or Key Stage 3 level.
Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, etc.
Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students and their families.
Additional Information
Sessions are generally scheduled during school hours, with some flexibility for after-school or evening sessions based on student availability.
This role offers flexibility, providing the opportunity to work directly within the local community or in students’ homes.
Prospero Teaching will provide ongoing support, resources, and regular progress monitoring to ensure you succeed in your role.
