Job Description:
This business operates at the heart of regional connectivity, and it’s growing, not just in size, but in complexity, capability and ambition.
Across two business units, finance plays a central role in how the business plans, invests and makes decisions. This isn’t a back-office function. It’s a team that’s evolving, improving systems and building stronger reporting to support the next stage of growth, while offering hybrid working, including a regular Friday working from home.
The Role As Assistant Accountant, you’ll work closely with the Finance Controller in a hands-on, developmental role designed to build both technical capability and commercial understanding.
You’ll own core finance processes across receivables and the general ledger, while developing your exposure to audit, budgeting and systems change. It’s a role with structure, but also the flexibility to grow as the business evolves.
It’s well-suited to someone who wants more than routine processing and is looking to progress their finance career through breadth, responsibility and visibility.
Key responsibilities:
*Preparing quarterly VAT, including reconciliations
*Owning the sales ledger, ensuring invoices are issued correctly and leading on credit control
*Supporting the general ledger with journals, balance sheet reconciliations and reporting
*Providing ad-hoc support to the purchase ledger team
*Supporting audit fieldwork and year-end processes
*Assisting with budgeting and forecasting as your exposure grows
You’ll work directly with the Finance Controller, gaining insight into how finance supports wider business decisions, an experience that’s hard to get in more siloed roles.
About You You’ve already built a strong foundation in finance and are now looking for a role that will help you develop further.
You might be an Assistant Accountant, Finance Assistant or Accounts Assistant who wants broader exposure, clearer progression and more ownership.
You’ll bring:
*Around 2+ years’ experience in a finance role
*A proactive mindset. someone who asks questions and wants to improve
*High levels of integrity and professionalism
What’s on offer? *A genuinely developmental role with scope to grow as the business evolves
*Hybrid working, with one day a week working from home
*Flexibility around start and finish times, recognising that sustainable performance matters
*The opportunity to build your career within a business that’s investing in people, systems and growth
