PART TIME SENIOR PAYROLL OFFICER
£48,000 - £55,000 PA PRO RATA – DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE
SOUTH WEST LONDON
PERMANENT PART TIME ROLE – 2-3 DAYS PER WEEK
I have partnered with a private members’ only club to recruit an experienced and proactive Senior Payroll Officer to manage the end-to-end processing, control, and compliance of the organisation’s payroll function. This role is crucial as the sole payroll specialist, requiring a blend of hands-on payroll delivery, strong technical knowledge, governance, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will be confident using a variety of payroll software and have strong hands-on Excel skills.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Process monthly payroll for permanent staff and 13-period, 4-weekly payroll for casual staff.
*Manage payroll elements including starters, leavers, contract changes, overtime, allowances, sickness, and statutory payments.
*Liaise with HR for manual and ad-hoc payroll adjustments and ensure the timely delivery of payslips and payroll reports.
*Conduct pre- and post-payroll checks to ensure accuracy and compliance.
*Maintain documented payroll processes and controls.
*Operate and manage payroll systems, ensuring a strong understanding of payroll building blocks and system interfaces.
*Manage workplace pension schemes and salary sacrifice arrangements, ensuring compliance and reconciliation.
*Handle statutory and HMRC compliance, including RTI filings and year-end activities.
*Support payroll-related financial reconciliations and reporting.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*CIPP qualified or part-qualified, or equivalent extensive payroll experience.
*Proven experience in a sole or senior payroll role managing end-to-end payroll.
*Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation.
*Experience with multiple payroll frequencies and systems, with a preference for those experienced with HealthBoxHR.
*Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS).
*Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively around payroll deadlines.
