Job Description:
Secondary Teaching Assistant
Location: Derby (DE23)
PayScale: £100 - £115 per day
Duration: Long-term to permanent
Start date: 26th January 2026
The Opportunity:
*Provide academic and pastoral support to students across a range of subjects in years 7, 8 & 9 (Key Stage 3) in a mainstream secondary school.
*Proven experience supporting children on a 1:1 basis.
*Ability to work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider team.
*Full-time role, Monday to Friday. Paid up to £115 per day, term-time only.
Key Responsibilities:
*Work under the guidance of the SENCO to deliver tailored support strategies
*Provide 1:1 and small group assistance to students with a variety of special educational needs across all years
*Support students to remain engaged and focused on lessons, adapting resources where needed
*Assist with differentiation, coursework, and organisation to help students access the full curriculum
*Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment through strong behaviour management skills
*Liaise regularly with teaching staff and the SEN team to monitor progress and adjust support strategies accordingly
Who We’re Looking For:
*A minimum Level 3 qualification (essential).
*Experience working in a secondary school or supporting students with SEN.
*A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach to working with students.
*Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and parents.
*Ability to inspire and encourage students, creating a positive learning environment.
*A strong commitment to safeguarding and student well-being.
