Project Engineer – SolidWorks / Sheet Metal / Fabrication
Location: Northamptonshire
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum

The Role
As a Project Engineer, you will take ownership of projects from concept through to commissioning, combining technical expertise with project management skills. You’ll be responsible for designing, detailing, and integrating complex systems using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
*Produce general arrangement drawings in 2D and 3D for plant layouts and bespoke systems.
*Design and detail sheet metal and fabricated products, including conveyors and structural components.
*Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) within ERP/MRP systems.
*Liaise with customers and suppliers to ensure project requirements are met.
*Provide full engineering support during installation, commissioning, and testing.
*Continuously improve designs and processes to reduce costs and enhance functionality.
*Ensure compliance with health & safety and quality standards.
Essential Skills & Experience
*Strong background in sheet metal design and fabricated products.
*Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
*Experience managing projects from design through to delivery.
*Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and BOM management.
*Minimum qualification: HNC (or equivalent in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering).
*Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Desirable
*Experience with special purpose machinery and conveyors.
*Basic electrical engineering knowledge.
*Prior experience in the waste management or recycling sector.
