Secondary Teacher – SEND

Location: Croydon
Working Hours: 08:00am – 4:00pm
Contract Type: Temp to Perm
Salary: M1 - M6
The SEN School is seeking a dedicated, compassionate Secondary Teacher with a passion for supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Key Responsibilities*Plan and Deliver Adapted Lessons: Design and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs and abilities of pupils. It will be teaching a year 7 class (5 children max).
*Support Academic and Personal Development: Promote pupils’ confidence, communication, and social skills alongside academic learning.
*Develop and Review Individual Education Plans (IEPs): Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, parents/carers, and external professionals to set, review, and monitor personalised targets.
*Prepare Pupils for Future Learning: Support the development of life skills, functional learning, and independence appropriate to pupils’ needs.
*Monitor and Assess Progress: Track pupil progress regularly and adapt teaching strategies to ensure continuous development.
*Create a Safe and Inclusive Environment: Foster a positive classroom culture where pupils feel safe, respected, and motivated to learn.
*Collaborate with the Wider Team: Work closely with colleagues, therapists, and support staff to provide holistic and consistent support.

Qualifications and Skills Required*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
*Experience of working within SEND settings or a specialist SEN qualification (desirable).
*A strong understanding of how to adapt the primary curriculum to meet a wide range of additional needs.
*Experience supporting pupils with needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*Creativity, patience, flexibility, and resilience.
*Experience using assistive technology or alternative communication methods (e.g. Makaton, PECS) is advantageous.
*A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils.
