Finance ControllerLocation: Leeds (Hybrid working available)
Salary: £60,000–£75,000 DOE + benefits
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time
About the BusinessWe are a growing SME based in Leeds, operating in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment. As the business continues to scale, we’re looking for an experienced Finance Controller to take ownership of the finance function and support the leadership team with high-quality financial insight and robust controls.
The RoleAs Finance Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial governance, and commercial support to the wider business. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the detail while contributing strategically.
Key Responsibilities*Full ownership of the finance function, including day-to-day operations
*Preparation of monthly management accounts, forecasts, and budgets
*Cashflow management and working capital optimisation
*Oversight of statutory accounts and liaison with external accountants/auditors
*Financial modelling, analysis, and commercial decision support
*Implementing and improving financial controls, processes, and systems
*VAT returns, compliance, and regulatory reporting
*Managing and developing junior finance team members (if applicable)
*Supporting the MD and leadership team with strategic financial insight
About You*Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
*Proven experience in a Finance Controller or senior finance role within an SME
*Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
*Commercially minded with the ability to influence non-finance stakeholders
*Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-moving environment
*Experience improving processes and implementing systems
*Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software
