Job Description:
Head of Facilities Management
*Location: Bury, Greater Manchester
*Job Type: Full-time, 37 hours per week with a flexible working scheme
*Hybrid working: 3 days per week in office/on site
*Length of role: Initial 3 months
We are seeking a Head of Facilities Management to ensure that our council provides an effective and efficient Facilities Management (FM) Service. This role includes managing the centralised helpdesk, ensuring council-wide statutory FM compliance, and leading the Facilities Management team towards proactive maintenance strategies.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
*Manage and provide specialist Facilities Management services across various locations, requiring flexible working hours including evenings and weekends.
*Lead the transition from reactive to proactive maintenance regimes, ensuring cost-effectiveness and long-term value.
*Oversee the administrative buildings function and contribute to strategic asset management across the council.
*Develop and manage corporate FM systems, including digital platforms for managing centralised FM, capital minor works, and energy management systems.
*Design and implement strategies for FM statutory compliance, asset audits, and building surveys.
*Lead significant change within the FM Service, adapting to evolving building and facility needs.
*Take a lead role in de-carbonising the public estate and ensuring health, safety, and wellbeing standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Degree in Facilities Management, Building Management, Surveying, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
*Substantial experience in Facility Management with a focus on complex repairs and maintenance regimes.
*Proven track record of effective management in a buildings and facilities environment with high commercial awareness.
*Experience leading and managing professional teams.
*Skilled in developing, implementing, and managing business plans and strategies.
*Experience coordinating and managing projects and change management programmes.
*Knowledge of health and safety legislation and building statutory compliance.
*Ability to manage large and complex budgets.
