Factory Manager – Chemicals
Location: Reading, UK
Job Type: Full-time, Mon–Friday, 9am–5pm
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000p.a
We are a leading chemical manufacturer with both UK and international customers, producing a broad range of specialty chemical products used across various industrial sectors. We are seeking a Factory Manager with a background in chemistry or relevant production experience working in industry. Candidates with experience in chemical production or similarly highly regulated manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead day-to-day factory operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing.
*Manage and support production staff, including training, performance reviews, and workforce planning.
*Oversee maintenance activities, respond to equipment breakdowns, and ensure reliable plant performance.
*Maintain stock accuracy, coordinate raw material orders, and ensure compliant waste management.
*Develop and monitor production schedules, resolving delays and driving continuous improvement.
*Collaborate with internal teams to maintain strong communication and operational alignment.
Skills & Qualifications
*5+ years in manufacturing management (chemical or similar industry preferred).
*Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
*Working knowledge of production planning tools (Sage 200 experience beneficial).
*Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
