Accounts Assistant – Accountancy Practice
Location: North Shields
Type: Full-time / Permanent
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
Are you a motivated Junior Accounts Assistant with experience in a small to medium-sized accountancy practice? We’re looking for someone like you to join our friendly team in North Shields! This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with solid accounts preparation experience who is looking to grow their career in a supportive and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
*Prepare year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
*Handle bookkeeping using Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage
*Prepare and submit VAT returns
*Assist with management accounts and general reconciliations
*Liaise with clients to collect documentation and answer queries
*Support the wider team with day-to-day accounting tasks
Person Specification:
*1–2 years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice
*Comfortable preparing accounts and working with accounting software
*Knowledge of VAT, bookkeeping, and basic accounting principles
*Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude
*AAT Level 3 (or working towards) or similar qualification preferred
