Tax Accountant – Full Time / Permanent
Location: Thirsk and/or Northallerton
Hours: 37.5 per week (Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm)
Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 per annum (depending on experience) + employer pension contribution
Contract: Permanent
About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Tax Accountant to join our busy and supportive accountancy practice based in Thirsk and Northallerton.
This role would suit an enthusiastic, hardworking, and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a client-focused environment. You’ll be involved in a wide range of accountancy and tax work, supporting a diverse portfolio of local small businesses and individuals.
Key Responsibilities
*Preparation of financial accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
*Handling all aspects of tax and VAT, ensuring compliance with deadlines and regulations
*Preparing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and limited companies
*Finalising accounts and tax returns and liaising with clients to discuss outcomes and tax planning
*Meeting with clients to provide clear, professional advice on financial matters
*Reviewing and finalising work produced by junior team members
Candidate Profile
*The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
*Strong organisational and time management skills
*Excellent communication, literacy, and numeracy skills
*Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, and Sage
*A minimum of 3 years’ experience at a senior level within an accountancy practice
*Extensive practical knowledge of all main taxes
*The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
*Educated to A Level standard (or equivalent)
*Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths and English at grade B or above
