Job Description:
You’re not here to keep the lights on. You’re here to change the future!
This Interim Capital Projects Manager role is about building a watertight business case that unlocks significant capital investment. You’ll be trusted to shape a major decision that feeds directly into the FY27 Strategic Business Plan, with a clear runway to June 2026. Salary sits between £85,000 - £95,000, with the autonomy and senior access you’d expect at this level.
As Interim Capital Projects Manager, you’ll sit close to the Finance Director and work across a range of divisions and the executive team. Your output will influence how, and where, serious capital is spent.
Day to day, you’ll own the full business case for the capital development of an operating division. That starts with the numbers. You’ll clearly demonstrate current financial performance, fully absorbing overheads, and compare in-house versus outsourced alternatives. You’ll design and implement meaningful operational KPIs across safety, efficiency, finance and quality, turning data into insight senior leaders can actually act on.
You’ll assess current capacity, utilisation and future demand, then link that to what the facility needs next. Maintenance, compliance, development spend - you’ll identify it, challenge it and cost it properly. Working with quantity surveying and estimating support, you’ll pull together a robust, defendable capital cost plan that stands up in the boardroom.
A key part of the Interim Capital Projects Manager role is influence. You’ll manage senior stakeholders, balance competing priorities and present a clear, confident recommendation to the executive board for CAPEX approval in June 2026.
You’ll be comfortable operating at pace in a complex environment. You’ll bring strong financial and commercial judgement, experience of capital business cases, and the confidence to challenge when something doesn’t stack up. You don’t need to know everything about fabrication, but you do need to ask the right questions and turn operational detail into strategic decision-making.
In return, you get a high-profile interim assignment, genuine board exposure, and the chance to leave a lasting legacy on a critical operational asset. This Interim Capital Projects Manager role suits someone who enjoys ownership, influence and delivery, not just analysis.
