Job Description:
The Role:
This position leads the firm’s Financial Control and Partnership Accounting functions, with direct line management responsibility for a dedicated team.
The Partnership Accounting remit covers the day-to-day management of all partner-related financial matters, including current and capital accounts, maintenance of the partner database, and the firm’s profit allocation model.
Key Responsibilities:
Take ownership of all partner standing data, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the partner database and profit models.
Manage partner capital, current, and tax retention accounts, ensuring accurate monthly drawings and profit releases while serving as a key point of contact for partner financial matters.
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate accounting for journals, accruals, prepayments, and provisions (including professional indemnity).
Conduct monthly analytical reviews of key P&L lines to identify variances and anomalies.
Work closely with FP&A to reconcile management accounts with financial accounts.
Ensure all balance sheet and control accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis.
Oversee direct and overhead cost accounting, including both operating and capital expenditures.
Lead the firm’s weekly and monthly cash flow forecasting, supporting the Finance Director on funding and banking arrangements.
Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal accounting policies and controls, promoting adherence across the Finance team and wider business.
Lead the firm’s annual audit and the preparation of statutory accounts.
Oversee VAT returns and collaborate with external advisors to ensure timely submission of the partnership tax return.
Support the review and simplification of partner profit allocation models, year-end processes, and other partnership accounting frameworks.
The Team:
The Finance Department comprises 25 professionals, structured across three specialist areas: Financial Control, Financial Operations, and Financial Reporting.
About You:
A chartered accountant or equivalent qualification.
Strong technical expertise and a solid understanding of financial principles, industry practices, and relevant legislation.
Proven experience in a professional services environment, demonstrating full competence within your area of expertise.
Skilled in planning, managing, and organizing resources to meet objectives effectively.
Able to interpret complex financial requirements and deliver practical solutions.
Experience in developing and implementing process improvements and driving continuous enhancement.
Strong leadership and influencing skills, capable of motivating and aligning others to achieve firm-wide objectives.
Committed to fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
Balances multiple stakeholder priorities with sound judgment and integrity.
Recognized for reliability and consistency in delivering on commitments.
