Registered Manager (Children’s Home)
*Location: Northampton
*Salary: £55,000 - £65,000
*Job Type: Full-time
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Manager to oversee the daily operations of our children’s home, ensuring the provision of high-quality care that complies with Ofsted standards and statutory requirements. This role is pivotal in leading our staff team, safeguarding our children, and promoting their positive outcomes in alignment with the home’s Statement of Purpose.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the home operates in line with Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, and Quality Standards. Prepare for and manage Ofsted inspections and maintain accurate records.
*Safeguarding & Welfare: Actively promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in the home. Implement effective risk assessments and care planning.
*Leadership & Management: Provide strong leadership, fostering a culture of accountability, respect, and continuous improvement. Manage recruitment, training, supervision, and appraisal of staff.
*Operational Oversight: Manage budgets, resources, and staffing levels effectively. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
*Quality Assurance: Develop and implement systems to monitor, evaluate, and improve service delivery. Address complaints and concerns promptly and professionally.
*Partnership Working: Establish and maintain positive relationships with local authorities, social workers, schools, health professionals, and families. Represent the home in multi-agency meetings.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
*Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role within a children’s residential setting.
*Comprehensive knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and the Ofsted inspection framework.
*Strong commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
*Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
*Proven ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
Desirable:
*Previous experience as a Registered Manager.
*Experience with children with complex needs, trauma, or challenging behaviour.
*Familiarity with therapeutic approaches in residential childcare.
