Job Description:
My client is seeking an experienced Finance & Commercial Director to take overall responsibility for the Group’s finance and commercial functions. In this number one finance role across the Group, you will be responsible for financial and management accounting, managing working capital & funding, performance reporting and driving commercial improvements. The role will provide strategic financial leadership to the CEO and Board, support key business decisions, and act as a senior partner to both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead and develop the Group’s finance, commercial functions, including management of finance team and IT consultants
* Set and implement the Group’s financial and commercial strategy, advising the Board and Executive team
* Deliver robust cashflow forecasting, working capital management and funding support
* Produce monthly management accounts, board packs, dashboards and performance analysis
* Support tendering, pricing and commercial negotiations with key clients
* Drive cost control, risk management, KPI performance and investment appraisal
* Oversee statutory compliance, audits, HMRC, insurance and legal financial matters
* Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, investors and financial institutions
* Provide financial support on any M&A opportunities that might arise.

About You
* Fully qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ICAEW)
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior finance leadership role within a SME or Owner Managed Business
* Background in rail, civil engineering, utilities or construction preferred
* Strong commercial acumen with experience supporting bids, contracts and margins
* Confident communicator with the ability to influence and challenge at senior level
* Experienced people leader with a collaborative and professional approach
* Working knowledge of NEC contracts desirable
