Job Description:
Purpose of Role:
To support the Transport Service Manager with daily operations of a private accessible transport service under a Full O-Licence, acting as manager-on-duty when required. To plan and manage routes and schedules, ensuring safe, efficient, and person-centred transport for adults with learning disabilities and SEN students aged 5–25 across a 13-vehicle fleet.
Key Responsibilities:Route Planning & Scheduling
*Design and maintain daily transport routes and timetables.
*Allocate drivers, passenger assistants, and vehicles to routes.
*Optimise routes to balance efficiency, punctuality, and individual needs.
*Maintain accurate route plans and journey times.
Operational Coordination
*Manage daily changes including absences, cancellations, and timetable adjustments.
*Respond to real-time issues such as delays, vehicle breakdowns, or staff shortages.
*Work closely with the Transport Manager to resolve operational issues.
SEND & Passenger Needs
*Ensure transport arrangements reflect individual EHCP transport needs and risk assessments.
*Communicate passenger requirements clearly to drivers and passenger assistants.
*Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity when handling passenger information.
Communication & Liaison
*Act as a key point of contact for schools, colleges, families, and care providers.
*Communicate route changes, delays, or service updates clearly and professionally.
*Maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders.
Systems & Administration
*Maintain scheduling systems, databases, and records.
*Update rotas, route sheets, and staff allocations.
*Support reporting on punctuality, attendance, and service performance.
Person Specification:
Essential: - Experience in transport coordination, scheduling, or logistics. - Excellent organisational and multitasking skills. - Strong communication skills and attention to detail. - Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable: - Experience working with SEND services or vulnerable passengers. - Familiarity with transport planning software or scheduling tools.
