Maintenance Team Leader (Mechanical)
Coalville, Leicestershire
Days, 50 hours per week, alternating Saturday mornings
£18-£20 per hour (£46,800-£52,000 per year) + Call-out
We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader to join a busy manufacturer in Coalville. This is a practical, leadership role where you will guide a small maintenance team, take ownership of planned and reactive tasks, and set the standard for safety, performance, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
*Lead a small maintenance team (Maintenance Manager, newly qualified engineer, apprentice, experienced engineer) on day-to-day mechanical tasks
*Take a hands-on approach with breakdowns, PPMs, and continuous improvement initiatives
*Ensure Health & Safety policies are followed and lead by example
*Support team development through training, mentoring, and guidance
*Manage job reporting and maintain accurate records
*Organise spares, critical assets, and consumables
*Assist with contractors and suppliers, ensuring adherence to site procedures
*Stand in for the Maintenance Manager when required
*Be part of the call-out rota (1 in /4)
Candidate Requirements:
*Completed Mechanical Maintenance/Engineering apprenticeship
*NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
*IOSH or similar Health & Safety qualification
*Strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic knowledge with understanding of electrical systems
*Proven experience leading or supervising a maintenance team
*Ability to challenge and support team members to achieve performance and quality standards
*Good organisational and communication skills
*Flexible and willing to cover on-call duties and overtime
