About the Role
Academics are seeking a caring, patient and experienced SEN Tutor to support a KS1 child with Autism (non-verbal) in accessing academic learning and developing communication skills. The role will involve working on a 1:1 basis, either at home or in school (depending on setting), providing tailored support across core subjects and helping the child to engage, focus and thrive.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver 1:1 academic support in line with KS1 curriculum

* Use strategies appropriate for non-verbal communication (e.g., PECS, visual timetables, AAC, gestures)

* Break down activities into manageable steps and provide clear structure

* Encourage independence, confidence and emotional regulation

* Work collaboratively with parents/carers and other professionals

* Record progress and adapt learning plans as needed

Essential Requirements
* Experience working with children with Autism and non-verbal communication needs

* Understanding of KS1 curriculum and early learning approaches

* Calm, empathetic and consistent manner

* Ability to use visual supports and alternative communication methods

* Strong behaviour-support and engagement skills

* Right to work in the UK
