Job Description:
CNC Setter / Operator An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Setter / Operator to join a well-established precision manufacturing company
This role is suited to a skilled individual with a background in high-tolerance aerospace machining who enjoys working in a fast-paced, quality-driven setting.
Reporting to the Production function, you will be responsible for setting, operating and supporting CNC machinery to achieve right-first-time manufacture, high productivity and on-time delivery, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities*Safely set, operate and optimise first-operation CNC machinery including fixed and sliding head lathes, turning centres, milling machines and bar-fed equipment
*Support second-operation processes where required, including thread rolling, grinding, marking, drilling, pressing, torque testing and deburring
*Work with a range of materials such as aluminium alloys, stainless steels and high-performance alloys
*Contribute to programming and setup activities, working collaboratively with other setters to achieve consistent first-off approval
*Complete first-off, in-process and buddy inspections to ensure components meet specification
*Accurately complete production documentation and record job movement through the manufacturing system
*Actively identify opportunities to reduce waste, scrap and rework, feeding back improvements to production leadership
*Maintain machine performance to support delivery, efficiency targets and key performance indicators
*Carry out routine machine checks and basic frontline maintenance
*Promote and maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment at all times
*Support and mentor less experienced operators when required
Skills & Experience Required*Previous experience within an aerospace or high-precision engineering environment (minimum 2 years)
*Proven ability to set and run first and second operation CNC machinery, with some exposure to programming
*Familiarity with Fanuc and similar CNC control systems
*Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
*Confident using a range of precision measuring equipment
*Strong understanding of machine maintenance and continuous improvement principles
*A proactive, flexible approach with strong attention to detail
*Effective communicator and team player, committed to quality and continuous improvement
Package & Working Hours*Salary up to £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience
*37-hour working week, Monday to Thursday (early finish every week)
