?? Pay: £21.91 per hour PAYE / £28.57 per hour Umbrella
About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated Duty Manager to provide operational leadership for our Refuse and Recycling Collections Service. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in ensuring efficient waste and recycling operations across Newham.
You will be responsible for deploying resources, managing day-to-day operational issues, and leading a large team of frontline staff. Your role will ensure compliance with Council policies, health and safety standards, and performance targets.
Key Responsibilities *Lead and manage a large team of frontline staff, ensuring compliance with disciplinary, capability, and sickness procedures.
*Oversee daily operations of waste and recycling services, including staff development and performance appraisals.
*Deploy resources effectively to maximise productivity and ensure compliance with road transport legislation.
*Monitor service performance against financial and productivity targets.
*Ensure health and safety compliance, conduct risk assessments, and manage accident/incident investigations.
*Plan and organise waste and recycling routes for maximum efficiency.
*Respond to complaints and implement corrective measures.
*Deputise for the Waste and Recycling Collections Manager when required.
What We’re Looking For *Supervisory experience in a public or private sector service environment.
*Strong understanding of frontline service delivery.
*Proven track record of innovation and achieving results in a performance-driven environment.
*Ability to build strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
*Experience working within a unionised environment.
