We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Band 7 Lead Echocardiographer to provide clinical leadership within our cardiology diagnostics service. The post holder will deliver and oversee a comprehensive echocardiography service, undertaking highly specialist procedures and acting as an expert resource for technical cardiology and echocardiography-related issues.
This is a senior clinical role requiring advanced technical expertise, professional autonomy, and a strong commitment to high-quality patient care and service development.
Key Responsibilities*Independently perform a full range of echocardiography procedures, including:
*Transthoracic echocardiography
*Stress echocardiography
*Contrast-enhanced imaging modalities
*Carry out highly specialist echocardiography procedures, including:
*Stress echocardiography
*Physiologist-led valve clinics
*Hold and apply specialised clinical reporting skills and expert knowledge in echocardiography
*Act as an expert clinical and technical resourcefor cardiology and echocardiography-related issues
*Ensure all echocardiography procedures are performed in accordance with relevant policies, protocols, and professional standards
*Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of departmental:
*Risk assessments
*Protocols
*Guidelines
*Provide leadership, advice and support to junior staff and the wider multidisciplinary team
*Maintain a consistently high standard of patient care, demonstrating accuracy, professionalism and attention to detail at all times
Essential Skills & Experience*BSE Accreditation
*Registered Cardiac Physiologist with the Council for Clinical Physiologists (CCP) and/or British Society of Echocardiography (BSE)
*Competent working as an independent practitioner, performing echocardiography procedures without supervision
*Substantial experience in cardiology
*Significant experience working at a senior level, with highly developed specialist knowledge in echocardiography
*Proven experience in:
*Stress echocardiography
*Contrast-enhanced echocardiographic imaging
*Demonstrated ability to provide expert advice and leadership within echocardiography services
