Teaching Assistant – KS2 Location: PR2, Preston
Contract: Full time
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role We are seeking a Teaching Assistant to support KS2 pupils with behavioural and emotional needs. Due to the specific needs of the pupils, the school would particularly welcome applications from male candidates, as the children respond positively to strong, consistent male role models.
This role is ideal for someone confident in supporting behaviour, building positive relationships, and providing calm, structured support.
Key Responsibilities *Provide 1:1 and small group support for KS2 pupils
*Support pupils with behaviour regulation and emotional wellbeing
*Act as a positive role model, promoting boundaries and expectations
*Support learning activities under the direction of the class teacher
*Assist during transitions, breaktimes, and unstructured periods
*Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and pastoral staff
*Follow safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times
Essential Requirements *Experience working with children or young people
*Confident, calm, and consistent approach to behaviour management
*Strong communication and relationship-building skills
*Commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare
Desirable *Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
*Background in sports coaching, mentoring, youth work, or care
*Experience supporting SEMH or challenging behaviour
