CNC Machinist

Location: Sheffield
Salary: £30,000 to £31,240 + Pension + Overtime
DAYS – Monday to Friday – 8am to 4pm.

My client is a specialist manufacturer of construction based products, with roots dating back over 140 years, they are extremely well established and well respected within their specialist field of engineering. They are now part of a wider group and are an extremely secure organisation, with an eye on the future for their workforce and business, with the addition of more engineers to the Sheffield site.

The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of day-to-day tool room machining and turning activities ensuring work is carried out to the highest standards, working on several mechanical areas within a heavy machinery environment. The ideal candidate will come from a tool room machining background and should be able to work on their own initiative, be a time served engineer with a mechanical/tool room bias. You will have served a minimum of a full apprenticeship in a production environment. Competent operating a range of metal removal equipment including conventional & CNC milling machines (HAAS), lathes, surface grinders & drills. Bench fitting. Knowledge & experience using micrometers, depth micrometers & gauges. CNC setting & programming. Writing CNC milling programmes. Applying 5S, SMED & lean principles. You will also be able and willing to be involved in general mechanical work. There is a huge amount of training on offer so the successful candidate will be in line to broaden their skills considerably.
