37 Hours Per week
I am currently representing Devon and Cornwall are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience.
We are looking for Police Staff Investigator at Barnstaple and Bideford Town Centres
The Hotspot Policing Scheme exists to focus problem solving activity in identified hotspot crime and disorder locations. There are 2 hotspot areas in Northern Devon, in both Barnstaple and Bideford Town Centres.
We are pleased to have secured funding to deliver 37.5 hrs p/w of Police Staff Investigation (PIP 1) until 31/03/2026. We are interested in applicants to work within our excellent Neighbourhood Policing Teams at both Bideford and Barnstaple, focussed on supporting our Neighbourhood Team’s investigation activity towards the most problematic and persistent offenders and within the Hotspot areas.


Duties will include undertaking investigative enquiries such as statement taking and collecting CCTV footage, along with supporting with case file preparation
We aim to recruit either 1 x full time (37.5 hrs p/w), or 2 x part time (to a combined maximum of 37.5 hrs p/w) investigators.
We aim to deliver an immediate start for any successful applicant/s.


Key Accountabilities:
*Hours between 0800-1700 to be agreed.
*The role will primarily be office/station based at either Bideford or Barnstaple Police station but will also require the candidate to interface with members of the public and partners within the community to complete tasks such as obtaining evidential statements and taking receipt of evidential exhibits. We have access to an unmarked vehicle fleet to facilitate this where required
*Experience obtaining witness statements and evidence gathering in accordance with the rules of evidence.
*Experience supporting preparation of case files, ideally using the NICHE records management system.
*Support and training will be given, but the important enabler is a willingness to work collaboratively within a welcoming team of colleagues, to deliver a prompt response to crime and disorder within our communities
