Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Surveyor / Supervisor to oversee a small team of multi-skilled tradespeople delivering day-to-day repairs and maintenance across our social housing portfolio.
This is a hands-on role combining technical surveying, supervision, scheduling, and people management to ensure repairs are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities*Carry out pre-repair surveys to diagnose issues, specify works, and schedule repairs
*Supervise and line manage a small team of tradespeople, including day-to-day support, performance management, and attendance
*Programme and schedule works efficiently to meet service targets and priorities
*Monitor works in progress, providing technical guidance where required
*Conduct post-inspections to ensure repairs meet quality, safety, and compliance standards
*Ensure all works comply with health & safety regulations and company procedures
*Liaise with tenants, colleagues, and other stakeholders to deliver a positive customer experience
*Manage job records, reports, and systems accurately
*Support continuous improvement in productivity, quality, and service delivery
About YouYou will be a practical, organised, and people-focused professional with experience working in a social housing or repairs environment.
Essential:
*Proven experience in a surveying, supervisory, or repairs management role
*Strong technical knowledge of building maintenance and repairs
*Experience supervising or line managing trades teams
*Ability to schedule, programme, and prioritise works effectively
*Good communication and customer service skills
*Strong understanding of health & safety requirements
*IT literate (repairs scheduling systems, reporting tools, MS Office)
Desirable:
*Experience working within social housing
*Relevant qualifications in building, surveying, or construction
*SMSTS / SSSTS or similar supervisory qualification
