Locum Property Lawyer / Property Officer (Hybrid)
Location: South Yorkshire (Hybrid – approx. 2 days on site)
Rate:£55 per hour (Umbrella)

About the Role
We are supporting a public sector organisation in South Yorkshire seeking an experienced Locum Property Lawyer / Property Officer to join their Property & Regeneration team.
You will provide high-quality, timely and professional advice on all land and property matters, covering commercial, residential, and regeneration-focused work. This role offers a varied, interesting caseload within a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Property & Commercial Work
*Advising on acquisition and disposal of freehold and leasehold land
*Drafting and negotiating leases, licences, easements, wayleaves and rights over land
*Handling title, restrictive covenant, and boundary issues
*Managing landlord and tenant matters, including rent reviews
Regeneration & Development
*Supporting major regeneration projects
*Advising on development schemes and housing enabling work
*Drafting/negotiating development agreements, overage, claw-back, pre-emption, and option agreements
Legal & Contractual
*Drafting and completing contracts, deeds, notices, and related documentation
*Assisting with the use of compulsory purchase powers
*Ensuring timely and compliant completion of all property documentation
Hybrid Working
Hybrid working is offered, typically two days per week on site. Days are flexible but often include Tuesdays and Thursdays/Fridays, depending on completion schedules.
Ideal Candidate
*Strong background in commercial property and/or regeneration
*Confident drafter and negotiator across varied property matters
*Able to manage a busy caseload independently
*Local authority experience preferred
*Private practice candidates with relevant experience also welcomed
