Outdoor Learning Coordinator
Location: School site and off-site
Contract: Full-time
Salary: £22,000-£25,000 (depending on experience)
Reports to: Senior Leadership Team
Start date: February 2026
Role Overview
We are seeking an Outdoor Learning Coordinator to plan and lead safe, engaging outdoor learning opportunities for students aged 11-19 with Autism, ADHD and related needs. The role focuses on woodland learning, outdoor activities and coordinating off-site alternative provision to support wellbeing, personal development and curriculum access.
Key Responsibilities
*Plan and coordinate outdoor learning activities, including woodland days and off-site provision
*Work with external providers, staff and families to ensure activities meet individual student needs
*Adapt activities to support sensory, communication and emotional regulation needs
*Ensure safeguarding, health & safety and risk assessments are in place
*Organise transport, equipment, staffing and documentation for trips and activities
*Track student engagement and wellbeing and report on impact
Curriculum & Activities
*Develop an outdoor learning programme for KS3-KS5
*Support life skills, independence, teamwork and confidence
*Create links with subjects such as Science, Geography, PSHE and Art
*Explore accreditation opportunities such as ASDAN, AQA Unit Awards or Duke of Edinburgh
Person Specification
Essential:
*Experience of outdoor learning or off-site activities with students with SEND
*Good understanding of Autism and ADHD
*Strong organisation and communication skills
*Confidence with risk assessments or willingness to train
Desirable:
*Forest School or outdoor education qualification
*First Aid qualification
*Experience with accreditation programmes
*Safeguarding training
Safeguarding & Working Conditions
*Enhanced DBS required
*Outdoor work in all weather conditions
*Some early starts or late finishes for trips
*Physical activity and responsibility for equipment and student safety
