Role SummaryWe are looking to appoint a motivated Temporary Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work within a college setting, supporting students to access learning effectively and confidently. The role involves working closely with teaching staff to provide academic and practical assistance, helping learners overcome barriers and fully engage in college life.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are adaptable, student-focused, and experienced in supporting learning within further education or similar environments.
Key Duties and Responsibilities*Provide in-class support to students during lectures, workshops, and practical sessions
*Deliver targeted one-to-one or small group learning support as directed
*Encourage student participation, independence, and confidence in learning
*Support learners with additional needs, including SEND, ESOL, or pastoral needs
*Assist teaching staff with lesson preparation, resources, and learning activities
*Monitor student progress and contribute feedback to lecturers and support teams
*Support positive behaviour and maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment
*Follow safeguarding, equality, and health & safety policies at all times
Person Specification*Experience supporting learners in an educational or training environment (preferred)
*Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students
*A patient, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting learning
*Ability to work across different subject areas and learner needs
*Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
*Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
Desirable Experience*Previous experience in a college or further education setting
*Experience working with students with SEND or additional learning needs
*Relevant qualifications in education, learning support, or childcare
