Job OverviewWe are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Temporary Teaching Assistant to support teaching and learning within a college environment. The role involves working alongside lecturers to provide academic, pastoral, and practical support to students, helping them to engage positively with their studies and achieve their full potential.
This position is suitable for individuals with experience in education support, learning support, or those looking to gain further experience within a further education setting.
Key Responsibilities*Support lecturers in the delivery of lessons and learning activities
*Provide one-to-one and small group support to students as required
*Assist students with learning tasks, coursework, and study skills
*Promote positive behaviour and engagement in line with college policies
*Support students with additional learning needs, including SEND where appropriate
*Prepare learning materials and assist with classroom organisation
*Supervise students during lessons, workshops, or practical sessions
*Provide feedback to teaching staff on student progress and engagement
*Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and equality policies are followed at all times
Requirements*Previous experience working with young people or adults in an educational setting (desirable)
*Understanding of learning support and inclusive education practices
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*Ability to work flexibly and adapt to different subject areas
*A positive, patient, and supportive approach
*Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable Skills & Experience*Experience supporting students with SEND, ESOL, or behavioural needs
*Knowledge of further education or college environments
*Relevant qualifications such as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support, or Education-related qualification
