Production ManagerSalary: £30,000–£35,000 (DOE)
Are you an experienced Production Manager looking for your next challenge? This is an exciting opportunity to lead a manufacturing team within a fast-paced engineering environment. We’re looking for someone who can motivate people, drive performance, improve processes and ensure high-quality output across all production activities.
The RoleAs Production Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the production function, ensuring that all parts are manufactured accurately, safely and efficiently. You’ll be responsible for planning workflow, managing your team, maintaining standards, and achieving key performance targets.
Working closely with senior management, you will champion continuous improvement, develop staff capability, and ensure production performance aligns with business goals.
Key ResponsibilitiesDaily Management*Plan, schedule, and delegate daily production priorities.
*Oversee attendance, manage sickness and absences, authorise holidays, and arrange cover when needed.
*Ensure all team members are fully trained and able to support flexible working requirements.
Production & Quality*Safely set and operate machinery when required, including CNC sliding/fixed-head machines with Fanuc controls, lathes, drilling/tapping equipment.
*Carry out first-off checks and in-process inspections on machined parts.
*Ensure strict adherence to all quality procedures.
*Support tooling requirements and ensure the production floor is well-equipped.
*Oversee and report on production KPIs, including On-Time Delivery, arrears, and quality targets.
*Coordinate machine maintenance activities to minimise downtime.
Leadership & Team Development*Create a positive, supportive, and motivating working environment.
*Lead, manage and coach the team, promoting a right-first-time culture.
*Identify and address training needs, development opportunities, and performance issues where necessary.
*Participate in recruitment and assessment of new team members.
*Communicate roles, expectations and objectives clearly.
*Take an active role in management meetings and operational planning.
Continuous Improvement & Problem-Solving*Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency and workflow.
*Raise concerns proactively and suggest practical solutions.
*Work closely with senior management to ensure targets and operational priorities are met.
*Support ad-hoc tasks across the factory management team when needed.
What We’re Looking For*Proven experience in a production leadership role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
*Strong understanding of machining processes (CNC, lathes, drilling/tapping).
*Excellent organisational and delegation skills.
*Confident communicator with the ability to influence and motivate.
*Strong problem-solving mindset and continuous improvement focus.
*Ability to manage performance, training, discipline, and staffing levels confidently.
*Commitment to high standards of quality, health & safety, and team development.
