Are you currently working as a number 2 Financial Controller looking for a role that will become a number 1 post?
An award winning construction company are seeking a Financial Controller / Finance Director to lead the finance function across a growing group of trading entities and SPVs.
This is a senior, visible role combining day-to-day financial control with strategic support to the Board, ensuring robust reporting, strong cash management, and first-class tax and VAT compliance within a construction environment.
Key aspects of the post include:
*Full ownership of group finance across all companies and SPVs
*Staff management
*Preparation of monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and consolidated reporting
*Setting and managing departmental overhead budgets in collaboration with Heads of Department
*Leading weekly cashflow forecasting and monitoring
*Managing payment runs and uploading payments for director authorisation
*Overseeing banking relationships
*Managing work-in-progress (WIP) calculations, reporting, and system processing
*Full oversight of tax compliance, including Corporation Tax, PAYE, CIS, and VAT, with a strong focus on construction VAT rules
*Liaison with auditors for year-end statutory accounts, audits, and tax returns
*Preparation of audit working papers and coordination of annual insurance renewals
Candidate Profile
*Strong experience within the construction sector
*Proven experience in multi-entity reporting, cashflow management, and statutory compliance
*Strong understanding of UK construction VAT and CIS
