Interim Transport Manager3-Month Fixed-Term Contract

We are appointing an experienced Interim Transport Manager to oversee and manage our transport operations on a short-term contract basis. This role carries full accountability for fleet performance, regulatory compliance, supplier management, and the commercial efficiency of transport operations across our North Acton headquarters and supporting Oldbury depot.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a fleet of approximately 90 vehicles, ensuring operational continuity, safety, and compliance while driving continuous improvement across all transport-related processes.
Key Responsibilities*Assume full operational responsibility for fleet activities across the North Acton and Oldbury depots
*Ensure all vehicles are maintained, serviced, and MOT compliant in line with legal and company standards, with accurate records maintained at all times
*Establish, manage, and maintain effective relationships with external service providers, including maintenance and repair partners, to achieve cost efficiency and service excellence
*Conduct thorough investigations into vehicle incidents, accidents, and infringements, implementing corrective and preventative actions
*Oversee the use and effectiveness of vehicle tracking systems, cameras, and telematics solutions
*Produce and submit detailed reports relating to fleet performance and driver safety metrics
*Support FORS and ISO audits, ensuring transport operations consistently meet required standards
*Ensure all drivers remain fully compliant with statutory and company documentation requirements, including driving licences, tachograph cards, and handbook acknowledgements
*Regularly review and enhance fleet systems, controls, and processes to promote best practice and operational excellence
*Plan, allocate, and manage driver and vehicle resources in response to operational demands
*Ensure optimal utilisation of transport resources through effective planning and operational oversight
Candidate Requirements*In-depth knowledge of UK transport and fleet legislation
*Proven leadership and management experience within transport, logistics, or a comparable operational environment
*CPC qualification (National or International) is essential
*Experience working with FORS and ISO frameworks is advantageous
*Strong IT capability, including experience with fleet and compliance systems
*Excellent organisational, planning, and prioritisation skills
*Strong financial awareness with proven budget management experience
