Role:

Temporary contract – initial 3 months with potential for extension

Join one of London’s Emergency Services Provider’s team as a Lawyer specialising in Employment and General Litigation. This role is crucial in providing high-quality legal advice and managing a complex caseload across various legal disciplines, contributing significantly to our vision of being a dynamic, forward-looking organisation.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Independently manage a personal caseload involving complex employment, pensions, and general litigation matters.
*Attendance at tribunal hearings (in person) when required
*Manage a caseload of employment tribunal cases.
*Prepare cases for hearings (front-loading work for future hearings).
*Draft disclosure documents, witness statements, and correspondence.
*Maintain accurate records in the case management system.
*Liaise with internal stakeholders and external solicitors as needed
*Provide legal advice on general litigation, information law, and governance matters.
*Undertake court/tribunal advocacy as required.
*Conduct legal and factual research, prepare briefing materials, and provide seminars and training on relevant legal topics.
*Assist and occasionally deputise for the Unit Manager in managing the caseload and advice work within the section.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Qualified solicitor or barrister with a litigation certificate, possessing post-qualification experience in relevant areas of law.
*Minimum 5 years PQE required with proven experience managing a large and complex caseload of employment tribunal cases.
*Public sector experience highly desirable (due to governance complexity).
*Knowledge of pensions (local government/final salary schemes) is preferred.
*Strong legal research skills and a track record of problem-solving.
*Ability to produce high-quality written materials and present to senior managers.
*Proficient in IT applications relevant to legal work and case management.
*Excellent organisational and communication skills, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
