A leading transport operator is looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join their Safety team and play a pivotal role in shaping, improving, and embedding a proactive safety culture across the organisation.

If you’re passionate about driving continuous improvement, strengthening compliance, and making a real impact on safety performance, this role offers the scope and autonomy to do exactly that.
What you’ll be doingYou’ll be the go-to expert for all things Health & Safety, supporting the Head of Safety and working closely with operational teams. Your responsibilities will include:
*Leading risk assessments, safety audits, inspections, and safety tours across the operation
*Monitoring compliance with legislation, internal standards, and safety-critical requirements
*Driving improvements in safety culture, behaviours, and competency
*Managing corrective actions and ensuring timely close-out
*Supporting external audits and regulatory investigations
*Producing clear, insightful safety reports and performance analysis
*Maintaining document control and supporting the Safety Management System
*Coaching teams, supporting training needs, and promoting best practice
*Playing an active role in emergency preparedness and safety planning
This role is central to ensuring the organisation continues to operate safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory expectations.
What we’re looking for:*NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and ideally CMIOSH
*Experience in a safety-critical or operational environment — transport experience is a strong advantage
*Strong auditing skills (Lead Auditor desirable but not essential)
*Excellent communication, coaching, and influencing skills
*A proactive, energetic approach with the ability to engage teams at all levels
*Proven experience driving safety improvements and cultural change
