About the Role as a SEN Teacher
Academics are currently recruiting a dedicated and adaptable SEN Teacher to work within a special school setting in Halifax. This role is ideal for an experienced SEN professional who is passionate about supporting pupils with complex needs and is seeking flexible teaching opportunities within a supportive environment.
You will be working with children and young people with a range of needs, including ASD, SEMH, MLD, and complex learning difficulties, delivering engaging and structured lessons that meet individual needs and EHCP outcomes.
Key Responsibilities as a SEN Teacher
*Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with additional needs
*Support and implement EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
*Create a calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
*Manage behaviour positively using trauma-informed and de-escalation strategies
*Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and specialist staff
*Monitor progress and provide feedback to school staff and Academics consultants
*Promote pupil wellbeing, engagement, and independence
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent
*Experience working in a special school or SEN setting
*Strong behaviour management and differentiation skills
*Flexibility, resilience, and a nurturing approach
*Excellent communication and teamwork skills
*A strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
