Role Description
A modern, tech-driven accountancy firm in Crawley is looking for a confident and capable Semi Senior Accountant to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a key position with real autonomy, flexibility, and room to grow.
The role would be split between 70% bookkeeping/VAT returns and 30% accounts and tax compliance.
Key responsibilities:
*Manage bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients (sole traders, partnerships, limited companies)
*Process purchase and sales invoices using Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Dext and Hubdoc
*Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loan balances weekly and monthly
*Submit VAT returns (Standard, Flat Rate, Cash Accounting), ensuring MTD compliance
*Handle monthly & quarterly PAYE/CIS reconciliations
*Prepare accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset registers
*Liaise with clients to chase missing information and ensure timely bookkeeping
*Assist with year-end preparation and liaise with external accountants
*Support the wider team on accounts preparation and tax preparation.
*Lead MTD ITSA readiness from April 2026
What’s on offer:
*Full time position 34 hours a week. We operate a 4-day week (Mon–Thurs) 08.30am to 18.00pm
*Salary up to £38,000, depending on experience
