Job Description:
SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary SEND School (Brixton)
We are currently recruiting an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to work full time in a specialist SEN secondary school based in Brixton, supporting students aged 11–19 years.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate SEND TA who has experience working with autistic students and supporting learners with social and communication needs.
Key Responsibilities:
*Supporting students with Autism and associated social, emotional and communication needs
*Providing 1:1 and small group support across the secondary age range
*Assisting with literacy and phonics interventions
*Using PECS and Makaton to support communication
*Implementing strong behaviour management strategies
*Supporting students with personal care when required
*Working closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to support individual learning plans
Essential Requirements:
*Proven experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant, ideally within a secondary SEN setting
*Experience supporting autistic students with social and communication needs
*Practical experience using PECS and Makaton
*Experience delivering literacy and phonics support
*Strong behaviour management skills
*Ability to support personal care needs when necessary
*Available for a full-time position only
Pay & Working Hours:
*£92.41 per day PAYE, increasing to £100 per day PAYE after 12 weeks
*Full time: Monday to Friday
*School hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm
