Purchasing Assistant
Annual Salary: £28,000
Location: Office-based
Job Type: Full-time
Join the team as a Purchasing Assistant, supporting the procurement function by managing purchase orders, maintaining supplier relationships, and monitoring inventory levels to ensure materials and products are available when required. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
*Prepare, issue, and track purchase orders.
*Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier records.
*Monitor stock levels and identify replenishment needs.
*Assist with demand forecasting and reorder point calculations.
*Track slow-moving, critical, and high-usage items.
*Coordinate with warehouse teams to verify deliveries and stock accuracy.
*Communicate with suppliers regarding orders, delays, and discrepancies.
*Follow up on shipment status and delivery schedules.
*Resolve delivery issues, shortages, or damaged goods.
*Liaise with internal departments to ensure timely material availability.
*Prepare monthly purchasing and inventory reports.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
*Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
*Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
*Basic analytical skills for inventory planning.
*Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
*Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a pressured environment.
*Friendly, approachable, and proactive attitude.
*Experience in purchasing, supply chain, or inventory management is advantageous.

*Standard working hours: Monday–Friday, 08:30–17:00 (1 hour lunch break).
