Reed Further Education proud to be working with a training provider aiming to make meaningful change through their Justice Services Team, and we’re now looking for a Trainer – In Custody to support the Creating Future Opportunities (CFO) Evolution Programme at a HMP in South Yorkshire
This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with individuals in custody, helping them prepare for release, build confidence, and create sustainable futures. Through structured group delivery and one-to-one support, you’ll play a vital role in reducing reoffending and supporting rehabilitation.


The Role
As a Trainer, you will deliver a structured six-week programme to small groups, alongside tailored one-to-one interventions. You’ll work closely with prison staff, peer mentors, and fellow facilitators to create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.


Key Responsibilities
*Deliver engaging and impactful group sessions covering:
*Goal setting
*Social interaction
*Coping with change
*Healthy relationships
*Complete comprehensive initial assessments and enrol participants onto internal systems
*Develop personalised action plans aligned to individual needs and goals
*Provide one-to-one support to review progress and remove barriers
*Build strong, non-judgemental relationships with participants
*Manage a caseload while balancing group delivery, admin, and follow-ups
*Maintain accurate and timely records using IT systems
*Monitor progress through clear objectives and ongoing engagement
*Work in line with the Health & Safety at Work Act and
*Uphold safeguarding responsibilities at all times


About You
You’ll be passionate about supporting people to change their lives and confident working in a custodial environment.
You’ll bring:
*Proven experience delivering structured group sessions
*Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate and build trust
*Experience working with offenders or marginalised groups (justice, training, or counselling environments)
*An understanding of safeguarding principles
*Confidence using digital systems for case management and reporting
*Insight into rehabilitation challenges and barriers faced in custody
*Comfort working to targets and performance indicators
*Familiarity with prison environments and custodial culture (desirable)

All candidates who register with Reed Further Education will have 2 years’ referencing taken up and will be required to have a DBS check completed. All offers are conditional upon satisfactory background checks.
