Secondary SEN Teacher | Autism Specialist | Workington Job Title: Secondary SEN Teacher (Key Stage 3)
Location:Workington, Cumbria
Start Date: Monday 9th February 2026
Salary: £168.80- £261.78 per day
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term
Role Overview Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Secondary SEN Teacher to lead a Key Stage 3 class at a highly-regarded Autism School in Workington. This role begins on Monday, 9th February, and is ideal for a practitioner who thrives in a specialist setting.
The Class & Environment * Student Profile: You will lead a small, focused class of 7 students with complex autism and additional communication needs.
* Learning Level: These pupils are semi-formal learners, requiring a curriculum that blends academic progress with life skills and sensory engagement.
* Support Team: You will be supported by 3 full-time Teaching Assistants, providing a high staff-to-pupil ratio to ensure safety and progress.
Key Responsibilities * Plan and deliver creative, semi-formal lessons tailored to KS3 students with complex ASC.
* Use communication aids (PECS, Makaton, or AAC) to support non-verbal or limited-speech students.
* Manage and lead a team of 3 TAs to ensure a cohesive learning environment.
* Assess student progress through specialised SEN frameworks.
Requirements (SEO Keywords) * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
* Proven experience as an SEN Teacher, Autism Teacher, or Special School Teacher.
* Strong understanding of Complex Needs and ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition).
* Ability to start on 9th February 2026.
* An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
