Role: Transport Planner


Overview
Our client is seeking an organised and proactive Transport Planner to support the day-to-day coordination of transport operations within a busy logistics environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring deliveries are planned efficiently, resources are utilised effectively, and service levels are consistently maintained.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-moving operational setting, able to adapt to changing priorities, and confident communicating with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
Working Hours
This role requires flexibility to support operational requirements. Working hours may include:
*Day shifts, early starts, or later finishes
*Rotational or fixed shift patterns depending on business needs
*Occasional weekend or extended hours during peak periods
Key Responsibilities
*Plan, schedule, and coordinate transport movements to meet operational and customer requirements
*Allocate work to drivers and vehicles, ensuring efficient use of resources
*Act as a central point of contact for drivers, providing guidance and operational support
*Liaise with warehouse and operations teams to align transport plans with workload and capacity
*Monitor live transport activity and respond to delays or issues as they arise
*Maintain accurate transport records, schedules, and system updates
*Ensure compliance with transport legislation, driver hours, and internal procedures
*Support continuous improvement by identifying efficiencies and operational improvements
*Handle transport-related queries professionally and in line with service expectations
*Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to support overall business objectives

Skills & Experience Required
*Previous experience in transport planning, logistics coordination, or a similar operational role
*Understanding of transport operations, routing, and scheduling
*Knowledge of driver hours and transport compliance is desirable
*Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
*Confident communicator with the ability to work across teams
*Flexible and reliable approach to working hours and responsibilities
*Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
