You’ll be joining a UK market leader in managing hard to handle waste, operating complex and highly regulated sites nationwide. With growth plans well underway, the finance team is being strengthened with the hire of a Tax Manager to take ownership of tax across the group.
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will be the go-to contact for all tax matters, working closely with finance, commercial teams, external advisers and HMRC. A key part of the role is acting as the internal expert on Landfill Tax, supporting commercial decision making and ensuring compliance across the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Managing and submitting Landfill Tax, Corporation Tax, VAT and PAYE returns
*Owning tax reporting, forecasting and balance sheet reconciliations
*Providing guidance and training to the business on Landfill Tax treatment and risk
*Leading audits, HMRC enquiries and relationships with external tax advisers
*Managing tax accounting, including deferred tax
*Reviewing processes, audit trails and maintaining the tax risk register
This role would suit an up-and-coming Tax Manager who is ready to step into a broader and more visible in-house position within a commercial environment.
You will likely be:
*ACA, ACCA or CTA qualified (or equivalent)
*From practice or an in-house role with strong UK tax exposure
*Confident with Corporation Tax in a corporate setting
*Comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels
*Hands-on, organised and detail-focused
